Answers to common questions about Papercove: devices, the AI download, files, purchases, backups and moving to a new iPhone.
Which devices can use the AI?
Questions and summaries need iOS 26 and 6 GB of memory or more. That includes iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 14 and later, and iPads with 6 GB or more.
On other devices you can still scan, read, search and set reminders. There's no document limit there and nothing to buy.
How big is the AI download?
About 2.8 GB, once. Keep about 1 GB extra free while it downloads.
It uses Wi-Fi only unless you change that on the AI model page. It keeps going in the background, and picks up where it stopped.
Does Papercove work without internet?
Yes, once the AI is downloaded. Turn on Airplane Mode, then ask. It still works.
Buying Pro needs the internet. Sending to a nearby device needs Wi-Fi.
Which files can I add?
PDFs and images (JPEG, PNG, HEIC). You can add them from:
- The camera scanner in Papercove.
- Files or Photos.
- The share sheet in another app: choose Papercove.
- A nearby device, with Receive from a nearby device.
For a password-protected PDF, enter the password once. Papercove keeps an unlocked copy in the app and doesn't store the password.
Which languages does Papercove understand?
The app is in English, German and Vietnamese. It reads documents in those languages, and you can ask in any of them.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open the Pro screen and tap Restore purchase. Use the same Apple Account you bought Pro with. Family Sharing isn't available for Pro.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Cancel in Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Papercove, at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
Apple handles refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves.
How do I move my documents to a new iPhone?
Your iCloud backup doesn't include Papercove documents, so move them yourself:
- Encrypted backup: in Settings › Encrypted backup, save the file to iCloud Drive, Files or a computer. On the new device, choose Restore from backup and enter your passphrase.
- Or keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi, then use Send to a nearby device.
I forgot my backup passphrase.
Nobody can open that backup, including us. While your documents are still on your device, make a new backup with a new passphrase.
Why can't Papercove find something that's in my document?
- The text may be too small, blurred or handwritten to read. Scan again in good light, flat and close.
- Ask with the words the document uses, such as “due date” or “amount”.
- Open the document and check that the page is sharp and the right way up.
The answer looks wrong. What should I do?
Check the source page under the answer. The AI can be wrong, and the document is what counts.
To report it, email us the question and what was wrong. There's no need to send the document.
How do I contact you?
Email ferro.cg.co@gmail.com. We reply in English, German or Vietnamese.
Papercove has no account, so tell us your device model and iOS version if something isn't working.
